Our Story

I started Official Survival Gear after years of working in the field — leading wilderness survival courses, responding to search and rescue operations, and practicing bushcraft in some of the most demanding environments North America has to offer. Over time, I brought together a team of outdoor professionals who shared the same frustration: gear that looked good in photos but failed when it mattered most.

So we decided to build something better — equipment designed by people who actually use it, tested in real conditions, and built to perform when your safety depends on it.

Official Survival Gear was born in Northern Michigan — a region defined by rugged forests, harsh winters, and four full seasons of outdoor challenge. It's our backyard, our testing ground, and the reason we take gear quality seriously.

Who We Are

Our team brings together professionals with backgrounds in:

• Wilderness Survival — trained in primitive skills, emergency shelter, fire-making, navigation, and foraging
• Search & Rescue — real-world experience locating and assisting people in life-threatening outdoor situations
• Bushcraft — deep knowledge of living and thriving in the wild using minimal resources

This isn't a marketing team writing product descriptions — it's a group of practitioners who know what works and what doesn't, because we've been there.

How We Develop Our Gear

Every product in our lineup goes through rigorous field testing before it ever reaches a customer. We test across different environments — dense forest, open terrain, cold weather, wet conditions — because survival situations don't come with ideal circumstances.

Our process:

• Designed for real use — every feature has a purpose, nothing is decorative
• Field-tested in Northern Michigan — four seasons of genuine outdoor conditions
